As an artist, I don’t merely create paintings; I craft unique experiences inspired by nature’s boundless beauty. Nature serves as my muse, influencing every stroke of my brush and every hue on my palette. Painting is more than just a creative outlet for me—it’s my therapy, my sanctuary from life’s stresses.
My art celebrates the vibrant colors and intricate details found in the natural world. Whether capturing the serene landscapes of my backyard or the bustling energy of nearby towns, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.
I primarily use acrylic paint, which allows me to layer in dimension and interest. A signature technique of mine is sweeping a palette knife with thick paint and acrylic medium such as gels, resulting in bold colors and expressive compositions. I build my heavy sculptural impasto by layering modeling pastes. Each stroke adds weight and depth, allowing the surface to rise. I carve, press, and lift the texture until it catches the light just right—creating a tactile rhythm. The process is both meditative and physical, turning the canvas into a textured landscape. Bright colors, interesting textures, and juxtaposing colors and shapes create visually captivating compositions that engage my viewer’s senses and spark their imagination. This combination allows for a dynamic interplay between different elements within my work, adding depth and intrigue.
As a chemist and teacher, I live a life rooted in precision, curiosity, and discovery—qualities that spill effortlessly into my work as an artist. The discipline of chemistry teaches me to see patterns in chaos and to appreciate the beauty in transformation, whether it’s a reaction in the lab or the layering of paint on canvas. Teaching sharpens my ability to observe, connect, and explain—and in art, this becomes a way of storytelling through texture, color, and form. Science grounds me; art frees me. Together, they shape a life that is both analytical and expressive, logical and luminous.
The meditative flow of yoga and the gentle energy of Reiki deeply inform my art philosophy, guiding each piece with a sense of stillness and presence. My strokes are grounded in awareness—each mark an intentional gesture of calm and connection. My work becomes a visual meditation, a space where healing energy, quiet introspection, and intuitive movement merge to create art that feels both serene and soulful.
Through my work, I hope to inspire others to pause and immerse themselves in nature’s splendor. Each painting is a gentle reminder of the fragility of our world and the importance of preserving its precious resources. I invite you to join me on this journey of discovery, to spend more time outdoors, and to cherish the simple yet profound beauty of the natural world.
